Marie L. Clarke Memorial

Marie L. Clarke was a registered nurse for 48 years, working 43 of those years for the maternity department at Grand View Hospital. She attended nursing school here at Grand View and remained a member of the Nursing School Alumni Association. In fact, her class picture is on the wall of the nursing school graduates outside of the Operating Room.

For many years, Marie was the manager of maternity and pediatrics. She hired several of the longstanding employees in maternity. Later in her career, she returned to bedside nursing and continued to be a mentor, passing on her vast experience to the next generation of nurses.

Sadly, this July, Marie passed away from cancer. To know her was to love her, and she will be dearly missed. Marie Clarke represented the best of us. She dedicated her time here to the betterment of care for mothers and babies. 

Many of us at Grand View have fond memories of Marie. To memorialize Marie’ s legacy, we wish to dedicate a bench or bricks that will be placed on the hospital campus as part of the This Is Us Together campaign for the new pavilion expansion. Marie loved being outside and it seems fitting to honor her in this way by helping to bring the best healthcare to our community and grow the hospital that she was dedicated to for so many years. Donations made to Grand View Health Foundation in memory of Marie will be counted towards this goal.  Please consider making a donation in memory of Marie Clarke.
